Prescribing Pharmacist Services

Independent Pharmacy  ·  Meadowlark, Edmonton  ·  (780) 443-0202

Alberta has one of the most expanded scopes of practice for pharmacists in North America. That means an Alberta-regulated prescribing pharmacist can prescribe medications, assess conditions, renew prescriptions, and order lab tests. Acme has a prescribing pharmacist on staff.

Services available without a doctor referral

Prescribe for minor ailments (UTIs, yeast infections, cold sores, allergies, eczema, and more); renew or extend your existing prescriptions when appropriate; adapt your prescriptions by changing dose, formulation, or substituting a generic equivalent; prescribe contraception including the pill, patch, ring, and emergency contraception; prescribe travel vaccines and preventive medications; prescribe smoking cessation medications and provide counselling; administer injections and vaccines; and dispense Schedule 1 medications when you need them and your doctor is not available.

Cost

Pharmacist assessments are fully covered by Alberta Health Care if you have a valid Alberta Health Number. There is no out-of-pocket fee for the visit.

Walk in Mon 9 to 5, Tue–Fri 9 to 6. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Call (780) 443-0202.
