Our Story

A Neighbourhood Pharmacy Built on Relationships

Acme Drug Mart was founded in 2023 as an independent, pharmacist-owned community pharmacy serving Edmonton's Meadowlark neighbourhood. We saw a gap: too many patients were falling through the cracks between overloaded family doctors and impersonal chain pharmacies.

We built something different. A place where you can see a clinical pharmacist for a UTI on your lunch break, get a contraception consultation without a referral, or transfer all your prescriptions in a single phone call. A place where the pharmacist knows your name.

As part of the Remedy's Rx network, we combine the resources of a national pharmacy group with the flexibility and care of an independent, owner-operated business.

2023

Acme Drug Mart Opens

We opened in Meadowlark with a clear mission: bring personalized, clinically excellent pharmacy care to West Edmonton.

2023

Expanded Scope Services Launch

We became an authorized prescribing pharmacy under Alberta's expanded scope framework, offering direct assessment and treatment for minor ailments, contraception, and travel health.

2024

Free Delivery Program

We launched free prescription delivery across Edmonton, making it easier for patients to stay on their medications without leaving home.

2026

Weight Management Program

We expanded into medically supervised weight management, including GLP-1 therapy consultations and ongoing pharmacist coaching.

What a Prescribing Pharmacist Can Do For You

Alberta pharmacists operate under one of Canada's most progressive expanded scope frameworks. Our pharmacists are authorized prescribers — we can assess, diagnose, and treat a growing list of conditions without requiring a doctor's visit.

Most of these services are fully covered by Alberta Health Care. No co-pay, no extra fees, no referral needed.

Minor Ailments Treatment

UTIs, cold sores, yeast infections, pink eye, skin conditions, and more. Assessed and treated in 10–20 minutes, covered by AHC.

Contraception & Reproductive Health

Hormonal birth control, emergency contraception, and IUD counselling. Private consultations, no referral needed.

Travel Health

Destination-specific vaccine recommendations, prescriptions for traveller's diarrhea, malaria prophylaxis, and altitude sickness.

Weight Management

GLP-1 consultations (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro), pharmacist coaching, and medically supervised weight loss programs.

Smoking Cessation

Personalized quit plans including NRT, Champix, and Wellbutrin prescriptions, fully covered for eligible Albertans.
